Kenya is a country full of beautiful national parks, game reserves and marine parks. Game Reserve also called National Reserve, are normally managed by local authorities and allows lodges, camp sites and the settling of some tribes/people with their cattle and livestock. National Parks are normally managed centrally and do not allow any human inhabitation other than for Park Rangers and people on safari. Kenyan wildlife Society controls and maintains most of Kenya national parks and reserves. The first Kenyan national park was created in 1872.

Kenya National Parks Rules and Regulations
I was with my wife on a safari tour, we love to drive freely in the park in our private car, enjoying the wonderful views and site, listening to the music from the car stereo, behind the tree! One day we came a cross a young lion and we so enthusiastic about this young lion decided to get closer. I noticed the lion aggression build up, I could sense the danger, but my basic instincts were not going to prevent me from seeing this king of the jungle up-close. Word of advice, as the saying goes 'If you go to Rome, do what the Romans do' well if you go to the jungle don't do what they do...... But follow this precautions:
- Keep noise to a minimum and avoid disturbing the wild animals, you would like it if a lion came to your bedroom and roared, would you know. So give them some peace alone, they need it for hunting. Worth noting, with this peaceful silence you tend to enjoy the natural sound of Nature.
- As it is in the big cities in Europe and other places in the developed countries, don't feed the animals or take any pets with you. Only leave your vehicle or make camp at designated areas. Hey in the wilderness, these animals are experts in ambush, and their reaction time is by far much better than ours.
- Remember don't light camp fires unless permitted and if you happen to see passing lion cubs don't try stroking it however cute they look!
- I would recommended that you use a local driver/guide; I know personal the best in this business and having been with them once and experienced a wonderful safari, this is an advantage because s/he should be familiar with the area, able to give you lots of information about the animals and their habitat, and know where they can currently be found plus how best to approach them.
- If you are an adventurous person and choose to drive yourself then remember that animals have the right of way and never drive too close to them, well your car isn't that flexible to get out of harms way quick enough. Keep to the speed-limit (usually 30-50kph) and don't drive off the tracks damaging vegetation. Make sure your vehicle is reliable, I recommend a 4wd {four wheel drive} safari jeep. Remember to carry a map, spare tyre and toolkit. Don't travel before sunrise or after sunset. If you don't have one click here to get one.
- Try to leave the Parks and Reserve as you found them. Don't leave any litter (especially if burning or flammable) or remove any plants, wildlife or other items.
- Above all be sensible and considerate to the animals and their home.
